I've been working on a few flash cards to use with my online classes this term. Here's a few samples. The Grade 1/2 classes are looking at the theme: Food (starting with fruit). The Grade 3/4 classes are looking at the theme: Vehicles & Transport.

Rudi's Favourite Fruit
As the majority of the world starts looking to conduct education online, this is a work sheet I have created for my Grade 1/2 classes in Chinese. Rudi the Orangutan is showing the students some of his favourite fruit. Rudi is a puppet who used to help me teach Indonesian when I was working at Rochester Primary School. He is now making a a new appearance with my younger students. They find it funny how Rudi is fluent in Indonesian, but now he has to learn Bahasa Cina (Chinese)!

Tiga Sekolah dan CINTA - Board Display
This is a board display I created back in 2010 while hosting three teachers from Indonesia. Two of these teachers came form schools in Bali and the third came from East Java. At the time I had a network running with four local schools in Campaspe Shire (including mine). To help celebrate I created this display on my classes pin board. It took about a week to complete as I was trying to create a to-scale map of of Jawa Timur and Bali. A lot of fun to do and my students were able to learn a little of where our visitors came from.

Chinese Brush Painting
My wife gave me a Chinese brush painting set for Christmas. I've finally been able to set aside time to begin having a go. Today's lessons was learning the different brush strokes and developing darker and lighter areas. This was followed with having a go at painting pictures of bamboo. Not too bad for a first attempt. I finally worked out how to form the leaves by the time I had finished. A bottle of strong ink given to me as another Christmas present from my younger sister a few years ago came in handy, too.

Simon the Nexian - Simon gets cross!
Chapter 1 - After an argument with his best friend, Jason, our hero gets cross and sulky. Very selfish, indeed, but he learns to be a better person in the end.

Bread of Heaven - Easter Performance Poster
This is a poster that I drew for an Easter performance for church last year. The tricky part was making the middle-eastern style flat bread look like flat bread and not a chocolate chip biscuit!! (I think I'll need to practice this one a little more)

The Aussie Outback Baked Bean Beaky Bonanza
This cartoon was an entry to the "They Draw & Cook" bean recipe competition. It was a lot of fun to draw and I was able to use a little bit of a recent trip to the Northern Territory in the picture. Some of my "Gone Bush" and "Kevin Koala" characters make cameo appearances as the main characters.

Simon the Nexian - Space Drifters
A terror for all who endeavour in cosmic travel, space drifters lurk in asteroid fields and within the ice rings of gas giants. The unfortunate space craft that gets caught in it's tentacles has it's electronics overridden with energy pulses from the gigantic creature. The vessel and it's hapless crew are then consumed.

A Koala Map of Cobram & Barooga
I drew this cool map featuring many of the koala territories my family and I have discovered since moving to Barooga.
This is special because when I was growing up in Corowa (upstream), there were no koalas. It's terrific to see them in the wild again.
